Am I really about to do this? Have I not learned from all the past suffering? I know what usually happens as soon as I let any optimism enter my mind. What do they say? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me? Who is to blame when they fool you like 10 times? 

Regardless of everything my mind is telling me, I think I believe that this could finally be the Dallas Cowboys’ year to at least make the NFC Championship game. Insane, I know. But we play Green Bay at home this Sunday (which I will have to stream on my phone in the middle of my friend’s wedding), and if things shake out like I think they will with Los Angeles upsetting Detroit, we would get the winner of Philadelphia and Tampa Bay in the next round — neither of which scare me. After that, it would probably be another trip to San Francisco with the hopes of exorcising some serious demons. It can happen, and I almost think it will. 

I grew up thinking Super Bowls grew on trees. Little did I know the one I saw in January 1996 was the last I would see for more than a quarter-century. But at some point, there must be a season where everything falls into place, right? Right?! Welp, here goes nothing…
