The biggest news out of last week was the Supreme Court hearing arguments in a case that could potentially overturn Chevron doctrine, in which courts largely defer to the regulatory agencies over the nitty-gritty details of their decisions. The court’s conservative majority seemed opened to doing so, which could lead to a major upheaval in the federal regulatory paradigm, report Rich Heidorn Jr. and James Downing, who followed the proceedings.
Rich also went downtown for the Washington Auto Show last week, where he got some great pictures of the showroom floor and heard a panel debate between Republican and Democratic members of Congress over electric vehicles.
And as usual, news came crashing out of the offshore wind sector, with John Cropley reporting that a coalition of OSW opponents is suing to overturn approval of the South Fork Wind and Revolution Wind projects, while Jon Lamson reported that Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island have agreed to delay their coordinated OSW solicitations by about two months. On the other coast, John Stang reported on a bill in the Washington state legislature that would authorize a study to gauge the ecological impacts of OSW projects along the state’s coastline.

Have a great week!
