Cancellations continue to plague the offshore wind industry on the East Coast, while the West Coast’s plunge is just beginning.

Ørsted announced last week it had canceled its agreement with Maryland for its Skipjack Wind project, though it said it will continue preparations to build the 966-MW offshore wind farm in hopes of securing a better deal. John Cropley, who may as well be our official OSW beat reporter by now, covered that, as well as what is essentially a reset in New York’s development pipeline and a new round of contracts in New Jersey. And he wrote a piece about BOEM and NOAA’s strategy to protect the North Atlantic right whale during project construction.

Meanwhile, Ayla Burnett reported on the first in a series of stakeholder workshops by DOE and BOEM to address the specific challenges to siting transmission for the first generation of West Coast OSW projects. And she wrote about the California Energy Commission’s draft plan for OSW development to meet the state’s mandated goal of deploying 2 to 5 GW by 2045.

Here’s some more of what happened last week:

Have a great week!
