Hello again from ERO Insider, your window on the world of electric reliability! It’s been another busy week for your intrepid correspondents, so let’s take a look at their work:

After widespread criticism for its role in last year’s wildfires, Hawaiian Electric Co. is working to prevent the same kind of disaster from happening again. Holden Mann brings you a look at the utility’s five-year resilience plan, approved this week by the state Public Utilities Commission, and the improvements it will bring to the state’s grid. (See Hawaii PUC Approves HECO Grid Resilience Plan.)

With NERC’s Member Representatives Committee and Board of Trustees meetings coming up next week, industry stakeholders weighed in on how the ERO can engage with both new and existing participants in its stakeholder process. Click through to read their thoughts. (See NERC Members Call for More Communication.)

Electric vehicles are quickly becoming more and more widespread in North America, and that’s got the ERO thinking about the impact they and their chargers are going to have on electric demand. Follow the link to learn about the new white paper that NERC released this week on the potential problems, and solutions, that it foresees. (See NERC Addresses Growing EV Risks in White Paper.)

Finally, lawmakers from Ohio and Pennsylvania questioned PJM leaders last week on how states can contribute to maintaining resource adequacy. Join Devin Leith-Yessian inside for a look at the hearing. (See Ohio, Pa. Officials Examine PJM Reliability in Joint Session.)

That’s all for this week, but we’ll be back again throughout next week with the latest updates, including a report from NERC’s board and MRC meetings in Houston. Until then, stay safe and have a great weekend!
