It’s rare I get to inform you of some news in this weekly NetZero Insider recap, so we begin with an article out this morning by John Cropley on a memorandum of understanding signed by nine states that sets a goal of heat pump technology comprising 65% of residential heating, cooling and water heating equipment sales by 2030 and 90% by 2040. John also reported on the potential next wave of offshore wind projects in New York.
In Massachusetts, Jon Lamson reported on a Department of Environmental Protection hearing on the fate of the Weymouth compressor station, and on the Gas System Enhancement Plan Working Group’s final report on aligning the state’s efforts to replace leak-prone pipes with its climate mandates.
And in California, Ayla Burnett reported on a report commissioned by the Energy Commission on long-duration energy storage, and she attended a summit at Stanford on historically marginalized communities’ role in the clean energy transition.
