Imagine spending eight years of your life striving to achieve something — and thinking you finally did — only to have someone tell you it doesn’t count because you used the wrong stick.
That’s the reality Richard Plaud was facing last week when the Guinness Book of World Records informed him that most of the matchsticks he used to build his 23.6-foot-tall Eiffel Tower were invalid because they were not “commercially available.” Fortunately, a director at the Guinness Book reviewed the ruling and said they may have been “heavy-handed in the application of our rules in this case” and reversed the decision. Now, thanks to some level-headedness, Plaud’s 706,900-stick replica officially holds the record.
Thankfully the situation was settled, or someone really might have burned something to the ground in anger.
Now, RTO Insider hopes to spark your interest with this energy news.
From everyone at RTO Insider, thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your day!
