April 5, 2024

Here are some of the stories RTO Insider plans on having for you next week:

Jon Lamson will have a story on the two-day NEPOOL Markets Committee meeting. The committee will continue to work on resource capacity accreditation updates.

Devin Leith-Yessian will report on a PJM Market Implementation Committee special session, as it will continue a discussion of how energy efficiency resources participate in the RTO’s capacity market, including how energy savings are measured and verified. Meanwhile, the Interconnection Process Subcommittee will deliberate on proposals to revise how generation owners can transfer capacity interconnection rights from deactivating resources to units planned at the same point of interconnection.

Amanda Durish Cook will dish on the MISO Distributed Energy Resources Task Force, where the RTO will go over its plan to submit a second filing to fully comply with FERC Order 2222.

Tom Kleckner plans on documenting the April 8 solar eclipse (weather permitting) from Bullhead Ranch near Camp Wood, Texas, which should be in the area in totality.

Ayla Burnett will be on top of CAISO’s 2023-2024 Transmission Planning Process meeting, where staff and stakeholders will discuss the recently released draft 2023-2024 Transmission Plan.

K Kaufmann will tune into a RMI webinar entitled, “Policy principles for enabling virtual power plants.” The webinar is intended for regulatory staff, policymakers, utilities and VPP companies to explore “principles for policy and regulation that can support the fair and efficient growth, integration, valuation, compensation and advancement of VPPs.”

Holden Mann will have a piece on the Talk with Texas RE: Coordinated Oversight, where staff will discuss the ERO’s program for registered entities with assets or activities covering more than one regional entity’s territory.
