New York’s offshore wind portfolio collapsed, again, John Cropley reported for NetZero Insider. NYSERDA announced last week that the provisional contracts totaling 4 GW that it awarded in its third offshore wind solicitation to Attentive Energy One, Community Offshore Wind and Excelsior Wind would not proceed, wiping out a procurement 21 months in the making.

State and industry officials said they would soldier on, as New Jersey continues to do as well, despite setbacks there too. Hugh Morley was at Kean University this month for a forum on the challenges to OSW development, including influencing public opinion. 

Meanwhile, we sent K Kaufmann up to New York City for the annual BloombergNEF Summit, where she listened to panels on the oil and gas sector’s role in developing new lower-carbon technologies and the current state of financing the clean energy transition. K also covered President Biden’s Earth Day event, in which he announced $7 billion in Solar for All grants aimed at installing solar on low-income single-family and multifamily homes, as well as building community and shared solar programs.
