I’m sure not many people have given it much thought, but the number of Amazon packages being returned daily, combined with the number of cats in the world, was always bound to cause a problem.

That problem finally manifested earlier this month when a Utah family noticed its cat was missing. It wasn’t until they got a call a week later from a vet in California that they learned what transpired. It turns out the cat was trapped inside an Amazon return box and was found in a warehouse in Los Angeles. Thanks to a microchip, the vet was able to identify the cat and notify the family. I don’t own a cat, but I have heard enough stories to know if you do — always check your luggage before zipping it up. It looks like “check before taping” is now also on the list. 

This is just another reason why I am a dog person. It is a lot easier to notice a 110-pound chocolate lab in a box than it is a 10-pound cat.
