They say you learn something new every day. Well, in that respect, I was yesterday-years-old when I learned hobby horsing is a real thing.

The Russian Federation of Hobby Horsing recently organized an event for nearly 50 children. The competition consisted of kids running around with a horse-head-on-a-stick between their legs while jumping over obstacles much like a horse would do in an equestrian competition. After doing a little research, I assume the event was a prelude to the Finnish Hobbyhorse Championships, which take place in June. Either way, this exists, and there are champions crowned. 

I am trying not to judge, especially when it comes to kids having fun, but it seems like either riding an actual horse, or focusing on the hurdles or the high jump in track and field, would serve a much better purpose in the long run.
