We begin our weekly NetZero Insider recap in Boston, where streets, bars, apartments and power infrastructure are located just above historical flood lines. That means climate-fueled extreme weather events are already putting stress on essential energy infrastructure, Jon Lamson reports in a thoroughly reported story that was the highlight of this past week.
In nearby Vermont, John Cropley wrote about the state legislature passing a bill that would update the renewable energy standard to 100% by 2030. He also covered a bill in Maryland, signed by Gov. Wes Moore, that alters the regulatory framework for offshore wind to keep US Wind from pulling out of its contracts.
Cropley also covered earnings calls for Siemens, whose CEO is calling it quits at the end of July, and Constellation Energy, which is seeking to extend the lifespans of its nuclear plants.
And of course, K Kaufmann was all over the news out of Washington, including increased tariffs on Chinese imports of clean energy components, DOE’s preliminary list of initial NIETCs and Republican state attorneys general suing EPA over its new power plant emissions rule.
Here’s what else happened this past week:
