Welp, that didn’t last long.

An art installation, dubbed “The Portal” that allowed people from New York City and Dublin to exchange pleasantries via a constant visual steam, was shut down less than a week after its activation due to “inappropriate behavior.” Reported instances of said behavior included swearing, nudity and the displaying of images from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. It’s a shame, but not surprising considering we humans always seem to find a way to ruin things with immature conduct. We’re such a great “advanced civilization.” 

Dublin said it was looking for solutions, while New York may increase on-site security and update the software to block certain images. Organizers plan to have the Portal back up by the end of the week. Or until people figure out other obscene gestures that will bypass protocols and force it to be turned off …
