Sandwich or not a sandwich? That was the question at hand regarding a taco joint attempting to open in an Indiana shopping plaza.
The owner of the plaza in Fort Wayne sued the city’s planning commission after it said The Famous Taco restaurant he was trying to open ran against an agreement he made to have no fast-food eateries there, only “‘made-to-order’ or ‘subway-style’ sandwiches.” However, following a three-year court battle, Allen Superior Court Judge Craig Bobay ruled tacos are “Mexican-style sandwiches” and not fast food and are therefore allowed by the agreement.
“Sandwich” is a pretty loose term and usually differs from person to person. Is a sandwich just something encompassed by pieces of bread? If so, does that make a hot dog a sandwich? It’s a question that can go on for years, apparently.
