I’ll be honest. I’m not a “Star Wars” guy. I haven’t seen any of the movies other than the first three, and even then, I probably watched those some 30 years ago. That said, I surely understand its place in pop culture history.
Do I understand it enough to spend $525,000 on a figurine? No, I don’t think so. But like I said, I don’t even know who Boba Fett is other than the info that link just provided. I am sure this sounds blasphemous to Star Wars aficionados; much like how I would feel if someone said they didn’t know Terrance and Phillip or Kratos, and I apologize. It just isn’t my thing.
It turns out this particular version was never actually sold in stores and was manufactured before Kenner halted production due to safety concerns: It had a launchable plastic missile on its back, while a newer version kept the missile firmly in place.
The miniature Mandalorian beat out a one-of-a-kind Barbie that sold for $302,000 in 2010 to become the most valuable vintage toy sold at auction. All of this has me hoping my Grand Theft Auto Lego characters can fetch this amount someday.
