Boys will be boys. | C-SPAN

June 7, 2024

Apparently it was “bring your kid to work day” for members of the House of Representatives on Monday, and Rep. John Rose (R-Tenn.) got pretty much what one would expect from his son.

Rose was delivering a speech on the House floor with his 6-year-old son, Guy, sitting behind him. It didn’t take long for the little boy to do little boy things after discovering the camera, as Guy proceeded to smile and make funny faces behind his father’s back as Rose read his remarks. Fortunately for Rose, the boy seemed to reel it in after a minute or two. I’d say the “just ignore him and he will stop” method worked well in this case. He didn’t even need one of these looks to settle down.

Now, you can make all the funny faces you want while reading this RTO Insider news. We won’t mind.

  • Speaking at the Exelon Innovation Expo, FERC Chair Willie Phillips described Order 1920’s “innovative” approach to long-term planning for regional transmission. K Kaufmann followed along.

  • Governance structures and market rules at ISO-NE that favor incumbent interests have contributed to pushing the region into costly and carbon-intensive reliability solutions, law professor Joshua Macey told the Consumer Liaison Group. Jon Lamson was in the room.

  • The growing footprint of CAISO’s Extended Day-Ahead Market was a critical factor in NV Energy’s decision to join it rather than the competing Markets+ offering from SPP, the utility said in a filing with the Nevada PUC. Elaine Goodman reports.

Lastly, we have news from other sources:

  • “California lawmakers in standoff with Gavin Newsom over $400M loan to keep Diablo Canyon open,” The Fresno Bee

  • “New wind turbine blade recycler opens in Fairfax,” The Gazette

  • “Looking to move Edgewater to natural gas, Alliant says it’s still ‘fully committed’ to cleaner energy goals,” Sheboygan Press
