The clock is ticking on the United States avoiding a national travesty, and it only has about 21 days to do so.
News broke earlier this week that, as of now, national hero Joey Chestnut will not be competing in the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4. Reports say there is a disagreement between Nathan’s, Major League Eating and Chestnut revolving around a sponsorship deal the 16-time champ signed with a competing brand. A source said there is still time for the two sides to work out a deal, but as of right now, the greatest hot dog eater of all-time will not defend his title. Someone get in touch with the president.
I’d just like to say to the brands involved: NO ONE CARES! No one is paying attention to you regardless of how many times you show or say your name. We just want to see the best do what they do — even if it is public gluttony.
