They say what you don’t know can’t hurt you. And while one could argue with the logistics of that sentiment, the expression seemed to hold especially true for an elderly woman in China.

About 20 years ago, Qin found an unusual “metal lump” in the ground while working on her farm and took it to be some kind of hammer because of its wooden handle and metal head. Over the last two decades, she has used it countless times to crack open nuts and hammer nails. It wasn’t until recently that workers helping demolish her old home recognized the “metal lump” as a German Type 67 hand grenade. A section of the fuse was exposed as well, only needing a little pull to set it off. Yikes.

Thankfully, Qin did not know what the device truly was, leaving her practically invulnerable to whatever might have happened. Or at least, that’s the idea …
