I assume it can get lonely when you are rowing across the Atlantic Ocean, much like Tom Waddington is attempting to do. Thankfully, nature is there to help.
Waddington, who set off July 5 on a quest to row across the Atlantic all by himself, recently posted a video of what he estimated was 1,000 long-finned pilot whales swimming alongside him. A ton of whales can be seen breaching, with one even running into his boat. Waddington said the whales swam with him for about two hours before disappearing as quickly as they came. I am sure it was quite the sight to behold.
You can track Waddington’s trip here. According to the map, he has only gone about 1 inch, so good luck to him as he seems to have a ways to go yet. Hopefully he didn’t watch any of Shark Week while he was out there.
