Happy Friday from ERO Insider! It’s been a busy week around the world of electric reliability, and therefore a productive one for us, so let’s take a look at the stories our correspondents have dug up for you!
The challenges facing the electric grid aren’t a new subject for NERC CEO Jim Robb, and he had the floor at the WIRES Summer Meeting in Boston this week to share his biggest concerns. Holden Mann has more from his keynote address, along with an update on the ERO’s Interregional Transfer Capability Study. (See Robb Reviews Challenges of Changing Grid at WIRES.)
NERC submitted its finished performance assessment to FERC last week, aiming to justify its recertification as the ERO. Click through for a look at the highlights of the report and the input that grid stakeholders provided. (See NERC Submits Final Performance Assessment.)
Also last week, NERC and the National Academy of Engineering released a new report identifying drawbacks with traditional resource adequacy models. Follow the link to see how they think the industry might change things up going forward. (See Report Says New Energy Metrics Needed.)
Finally, Brandon Wales, the executive director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency who led the organization through several major security incidents, is stepping down, the agency said this week. Find out more about his replacement and other leadership changes at CISA here. (See CISA Executive Director to Step Down.)
That’s all for today, but we’ll be here all through the week looking for the news you need from the ERO Enterprise and beyond. So have a great weekend, and we’ll see you next Friday for another exciting issue of the ERO Insider newsletter! Take care!
