Here are some of the stories RTO Insider plans on having for you next week:

Jon Lamson will report on the NEPOOL Participants Committee, which will feature updates from ISO-NE leadership, along with votes on market changes related to Order 2222 and new data collection requirements for distributed energy resources. Jon will also listen in on Eversource Energy’s second-quarter earnings call.

Vincent Gabrielle will have pieces on the NYISO ICAP Working Group and its discussion of the demand curve reset, as well as a state Reliability Council subcommittee meeting that will go over feedback that will be used to further develop the model for the ISO’s biennial Reliability Needs Assessment.

Devin Leith-Yessian will follow along with the PJM Load Analysis Subcommittee as it discusses the process for forecasting EV load and distributed solar output, as well as how capacity obligations are assigned for large load additions.

Hugh Morley will get the numbers from PSEG’s earnings call, while K Kaufmann will do the same with Exelon.

K will also dive into the Environmental and Energy Study Institute’s annual Congressional Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Expo and Policy Forum on Capitol Hill, as well as a Senate Budget Committee hearing on the future of EVs.

Tom Kleckner will keep you up to date on legislative hearings in Texas. The Senate and House will hold hearings Monday and Wednesday, respectively, on utilities’ response to Hurricane Beryl and extreme weather.

Ayla Burnett will focus on the CAISO Greenhouse Gas Coordination Working Group, as staff and stakeholders continue to work through the details of how to account for greenhouse emissions in the EDAM in states that price carbon versus those that don’t. Ayla will also tune into the CAISO Market Surveillance Committee, which will give an update on 2023 market conditions and discuss storage bid cost recovery and default energy bids.

Robert Mullin will cover the West-Wide Governance Pathways Initiative’s Public Interest workshop on July 31 and third Stakeholder Process workshop on Aug. 2.

James Downing will gather the details from a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024. The permitting bill is sponsored by Sens. Joe Manchin and John Barrasso, who hope to get it passed before Congress adjourns at the end of the year.

Holden Mann will have a story on the NERC System Planning Impacts from Distributed Energy Resources (SPIDER) Working Group meeting, where members will discuss reliability issues related to inverter-based resources, along with reliability standards and guidelines under development.
