Happy Friday from ERO Insider! August is upon us, and summer is rapidly drawing to a close — but your humble correspondents are still on the case, rain or shine. So take a break and a cold drink, and check out the stories we’ve been working on this week!
NERC’s Reliability and Security Technical Committee is holding a vote today on whether to form a task force examining the effects of EV charging on grid reliability. Holden Mann has more on the project’s goals and who the committee hopes to tap for membership. (See NERC Planning Task Force on EV Grid Impacts.)
Also this week, the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency named its first ever chief artificial intelligence officer to oversee the agency’s efforts with this emerging technology. Check the link to see what the new leader’s job will entail. (See CISA Names First Chief AI Officer.)
That’s going to do it for this week, but we’ll be on the job all next week scoping out the news you need from the world of electric reliability. We’ll see you next Friday with another exciting newsletter — until then, stay cool and have a great week!
