What did I do?!
Ever since I wrote that bullish email about the Philadelphia Phillies being so awesome at the All-Star break in early July, the team has straight up tanked. Sure, they are still 73-52 and are six games up on the Atlanta Braves in the division, but they’re also 11-18 since the break, and their once mighty team can’t seem to hit or pitch — which, when it comes to winning baseball games, is kind of important. Bryce Harper, our most dangerous hitter, is batting a measly .209, with only five home runs and 28 strikeouts. But it would be silly to blame it all on him when the pitching staff’s ERA has risen a full run — most of which is because of the bullpen.
I am not the most superstitious person in the world, but I can’t help but think this is somehow all my fault. So, in an effort to right my wrongs, this is my email saying I’m sorry. I screwed up. I get it. You’d think by now I would know not to talk until the job is finished. After all, I am also a Dallas Cowboys fan …
