Telling a young kid to not touch things and keep their hands to themselves is like trying to convince your wife to let you throw your Christmas bonus all on black — it’s just not going to happen. So, taking your 4-year-old to a museum with ancient artifacts just sitting around everywhere probably isn’t the greatest idea in the world.
A family learned that the hard way last week, when a little boy pulled down a 3,500-year-old Bronze Age jar at the Hecht Museum in Israel. The father said his curious son was trying to see what was inside the jar and accidentally tipped it over and shattered it into pieces. And that right there is the crux of the problem. They are always “curious.” And we all know what curiosity did.
Fortunately, the museum said it should be able to restore the jar, and it even invited the family back to see it … under the condition that the boy wear handcuffs. No, not really. But he should.
