While the NFL was busy kicking off the 2024 season this weekend, there was another bit of football being played and celebrating 50 years of competition.

The 50th annual Mud Bowl was held this past weekend in New Hampshire, pitting 12 teams in a tournament that is settled in one of the biggest mud pits you will ever see. It reminds me of the backyard games we would play as kids. While I never played in knee-deep mud, I did play in shin-deep snow, which I would assume is just as hard to move in as the mud. Throw in the blizzard, and I’d say I had it rougher. 

According to the bowl’s Facebook page, the Mud Heros were crowned this year’s champs, winning by a score of 13-0. Not only do they get the trophy, but they get to clean mud off their body for the next few weeks. #winning
