Water rescue teams don’t have time to decide if a reported emergency is real or not. If there is a call of someone in the water, they are immediately on the move. 

A Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew in England was on the move earlier this week after it received an early-morning call of someone stranded in the water off the coast of Bempton. But, when the team got to the “person,” it turned out to be a training dummy lost by another crew some 70 miles north. A crisis was averted, except for whichever squad failed its training mission.

Hartlepool RNLI thanked the Filey team for finding “Fred.” Perhaps they should also ask Filey for some pointers on not misplacing and/or locating their distressed.
