Forrest Fenn’s treasure hurt in the 2010s had people all over the U.S. looking for a chest somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, and it even cost five individuals their lives. The treasure was eventually found in 2020, about three months before Fenn’s death.
Now there is another treasure hunt, this time in New England. “Project Skydrop” was created by video game designer Jason Rohrer and will reward its finder with a 10-ounce solid gold sculpture (worth roughly $26,500) engraved with a Bitcoin wallet recovery phrase that unlocks 50% of the pool of entry fees (currently north of $29,500). Rohrer gave two hints: a closeup shot of where the trophy sits, and a 500-mile radius of its location. To ensure this hunt will end in a timely manner, the picture will zoom out every day, while the radius will eventually shrink to mark the exact spot. Perhaps that will result in fewer deaths and lawsuits.
So, if you’re somewhere in western Massachusetts and have nothing to do, perhaps you should go for a stroll in the woods. It could be worth your while.
