You can’t put a price on a good hug, but evidently you can put a time limit on it.

The Dunedin International Airport in New Zealand made airwaves and internetwaves when it recently posted a sign in its drop-off zone that all goodbye hugs must be limited to three minutes. The airport chief executive said goodbyes had been getting too long and causing traffic issues and some sort of correction was needed. For longer, fonder goodbyes, he said people should go to the car park.  

As someone who likes to show up closer to my departure time but move quickly and efficiently through the airport, I feel as if the ride to the airport should provide ample time to say goodbye and hit the drop-off rolling. Therefore, the hug should take 10 seconds tops. Three minutes and you might as well not even go.
