I don’t have a degree in marketing, but I feel as if Pepperidge Farm is going out on a limb with its recent rebranding move. Goldfish, one of the company’s most liked and well-known snacks, has undergone a “limited time” name change and will be known as “Chilean Sea Bass” for the next week or so.
The oddly named cracker will be sold only online in an effort to “reestablish its relevance.” Pepperidge hopes that, along with a new factory that pumps out 1,500 Goldfish per second, will lead to increased sales.
I do know one thing: I will not be asking my kids if they would like Chilean Sea Bass. Once Goldfish crackers, always Goldfish crackers.
