Happy Friday from ERO Insider, where we hope that, like Humpty Dumpty, you’re all having a great fall! It’s a great time of year to be a pumpkin farmer, but it’s also not bad for those of us in the world of electric reliability, where the news continues to pour out as the holiday season officially kicks off. Let’s see what our reporters have been working on!
With the U.S. presidential election just days away, cybersecurity officials are bringing their “A” games to keep the polls safe and secure. In a panel at last week’s GridSecCon conference, experts on the front lines discussed why electric reliability is vital to their efforts. Holden Mann was on the scene and he’s got more on their concerns. (See Panelists Discuss Electric, Election Security Intersections.)
Looking past the election, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency this week released its International Strategic Plan, reviewing its efforts to coordinate cyber strategies among its foreign counterparts over the next few years. Click through for a look at how the agency hopes to keep essential infrastructure secure and reliable. (See CISA Releases International Strategic Plan.)
FERC approved a settlement between SERC Reliability and Entergy this week that will see the Louisiana-based utility pay $141,000 for violating NERC’s reliability standards. Follow the link to see why the regional entity leveled the penalty. (See Entergy to Pay SERC $141K for Standard Violations.)
That’s going to be it for today, but we’ll be back next week with more stories from around the ERO Enterprise and beyond. Have a great week, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep when Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday!
