Welcome to another exciting edition of the ERO Insider newsletter! With a turbulent election season finally over, let’s hope we can all settle down and focus on the important work of keeping the grid reliable and secure. And what better way to do that than with a review of the news our team’s been following this week!
The FBI arrested a Tennessee man last weekend after he allegedly hatched a plot to attack an electric substation near Nashville with a bomb-laden drone. Holden Mann has more on this latest threat to grid security, including the ideology that officials say drove the would-be attacker. (See Feds Accuse Tenn. Man of Substation Attack Plot.)
After a whirlwind year, NERC’s Interregional Transfer Capability Study is nearing its conclusion, with the final two draft installments released this week. Click through for an overview of the recommendations and next steps for the study, including the expected release of a Canada-focused supplement. (See NERC Releases Final ITCS Draft Installments.)
NERC’s first tranche of standards on inverter-based resources are in FERC’s hands now, bringing a sometimes-eventful development process to a close. Follow the link to see when the new standards may take effect. (See NERC Submits IBR Standards to FERC.)
Thanks again for sharing your Friday with us! We’ll be back next week with more news from the world of electric reliability, including reports from NERC’s Cold Weather Technical Conference and a meeting of the ERO’s Standards Committee. Until then, have a great week and a lovely weekend, and stay safe!
