Happy Friday to all of you from ERO Insider, your source for the news you need from the ERO Enterprise and beyond! Despite the Veterans Day holiday (Remembrance Day for our readers in Canada), this was another busy week in the world of electric reliability, so hop on and let’s see the stories our reporters have been working on!

NERC released its Winter Reliability Assessment this week, highlighting areas of concern for the upcoming winter but also noting encouraging developments over the past year. Join Holden Mann inside for details on the report and reactions from around the industry. (See NERC Sees ‘Reasons for Optimism’ as Winter Approaches.)

The ERO’s cold weather standards development program also took center stage this week as NERC hosted a technical conference to hear feedback from stakeholders. Follow the link to see why the standard could be the next opportunity for NERC’s Board of Trustees to step in and streamline the development process. (See NERC: Board’s 321 Authority on the Table for Cold Weather Standard.)

The North American Generator Forum also held its annual meeting in Texas this week, where members heard more about the cold weather project and the challenges the development team has been working through. Tom Kleckner has more details from the conference inside. (See NAGF Takes on Cold-weather Standard’s Revision.)

NERC’s Standards Committee had a full slate of work at its monthly meeting this week, with votes on several ongoing standards projects. Join us inside for a rundown on the committee’s actions. (See NERC Standards Committee Briefs: Nov. 13, 2024.)

That’s going to be all for this week’s newsletter, but don’t forget to keep checking back with us next week for the latest updates, and of course, we’ll be back on Friday with another weekly roundup. Until then, have a great week and stay safe!
