Happy New Year from ERO Insider! It’s great to be back, though it’s been a turbulent start to the year, with wildfires in California and sub-freezing temperatures sweeping the Southeast. We hope all our readers and their families are safe and in good health.
A 2024 incident exposed some potential reliability issues with data centers and other large loads in grid disturbances, according to a new report from NERC. Holden Mann has more on the incident review and its recommendations for grid operators. (See NERC Report Highlights Data Center Load Loss Issues.)
Two proposed reliability standards designed to address the reliability risks of
variable energy resources are waiting for FERC approval this week. Click through for a look at the proposals and how they are intended to improve operators’ understanding of these resources’ behavior. (See NERC Submits Energy Assurance Standards to FERC.)
Thanks for joining us! We’ll be hard at work all next week covering all the news
you need from the world of electric reliability, so be sure to check the website regularly for the latest updates. Until next Friday, have a safe weekend and a great week! |
