Happy Friday from ERO Insider! Your humble correspondent didn’t think Atlanta could get hit with snow twice in the same month, but this week proved us wrong. For our readers living in the Southeast, we hope you’ve coped with the cold as well as you could. Now let’s take a look at this week’s stories!
The low temperatures were on everyone’s lips at a SERC Reliability-hosted webinar this week. That came as no surprise, because extreme weather was one of the top risks identified in the regional entity’s recent Regional Risk Report. Holden Mann has more from the report and the discussion. (See Weather, Supply Chain Among Top SERC Risks.)
Staff and members of NERC’s Standards Committee discussed the committee’s progress revising the ERO’s cold weather standard after the Board of Trustees ordered it to take over the project earlier this month. Click through for the committee’s next steps and more from the meeting. (See Cold Weather Standard Set for Posting.)
ERCOT is seeing the risk of an energy emergency alert inching upward because of the growth of data centers and other large loads, grid operator staff told audience members at this week’s Talk with Texas RE webinar. Follow the link for more findings from ERCOT’s monthly resource adequacy forecast. (See ERCOT Forecasts Highest March Risk of EEAs in Early Evening.)
Thanks for joining us on another frosty Friday! We’ll see you again next week with another piping hot email, and hopefully with higher outdoor temperatures to match. Until then, have a great week!
