Here are some of the stories RTO Insider plans on having for you next week:


Vincent Gabrielle will detail the NYISO ICAP Working Group meeting as it continues its Capacity Market Structure Review. 


Devin Leith-Yessian will have all things PJM, including the Transmission Expansion Advisory Committee and the RTO’s update on its transmission reliability planning processes and generation deactivation requests. Elsewhere, the Market Implementation Committee will vote on a proposal to replace the availability window for demand response resources with hourly modeling of their output for accreditation purposes, while the Members Committee will convene a special session to discuss another proposal to revise the price cap and institute a price floor in the 2026/27 Base Residual Auction. 


Tom Kleckner will report on the ERCOT Board of Directors meeting, which will meet with its subcommittees Feb. 3-4 to discuss options for two San Antonio gas units, originally set to retire, that are needed for reliability purposes. Three transmission projects are also up for approval. 


Tom will also keep tabs on SPP’s Board of Directors/Members Committee meeting. The board, state regulators and members will meet virtually Feb. 3-4 to consider work produced by the REAL Team, an HVDC study and an industry expert pool to assess competitive projects. 


Elaine Goodman will cover WECC’s “Reliability in the West: Large Load–System Performance Risks” webinar. 


Holden Mann will tune into NERC’s System Planning Impacts from Distributed Energy Resources Working Group meeting, where members will discuss challenges to grid reliability from the growth of distributed energy resources
