When getting all the proper approvals to build a structure becomes a major headache, just get animals to do it for free.
Despite securing $1.2 million in funding to construct a new dam, officials in the Brdy region of the Czech Republic had run out of options when it came to acquiring all the necessary permits. And just when it seemed the project was doomed to sit in limbo, a team of beavers took it upon themselves and built dams that created the wetlands the region had been looking for. Now that’s how you save taxpayer dollars.
The beavers use the ponds that are created for food and protection, but they also create a habitat for a number of other species. I’d call this a triple-win.
