We kick off this week of NetZero Insider with a story from K Kaufmann, who dove into a study from nonprofit think tank Energy Innovation Policy & Technology. In order for the U.S. to build a reliable, affordable and clean electric power system, the study said the energy industry and customers will need to shift their thinking about what a reliable system looks like.

Elsewhere, the Department of Energy approved the first authorization to export liquid natural gas from a new domestic facility since the Biden administration’s pause on new approvals. The Commonwealth LNG facility, which will be built in Cameron Parish, La., will be owned by Kimmeridge Texas Gas and will be able to export 1.2 Bcfd once it is built. James Downing relayed the details.

Switching to nuclear, a coalition of anti-nuclear groups – Beyond Nuclear, Don’t Waste Michigan, Michigan Safe Energy Future, Nuclear Energy Information Service of Chicago and Three Mile Island Alert of Pennsylvania – have united to try to stop Michigan’s Palisades Nuclear Generating Station from being brought back to life.  Amanda Durish Cook reported.

We also listened in on earnings calls from Constellation Energy, DTE Energy and Eversource Energy.

Here is some more news we had throughout the week:
