NetZero Insider’s Hugh Morley was in Virginia Beach last week for the Oceantic Network’s International Partnering Forum, where the offshore wind industry rallied amid the Trump administration’s pause on leasing. Developers and industry advocates are strategizing on how to reset and re-emerge in two to four years, Hugh heard. They are also closely monitoring and lobbying Congress to shape potential changes to the Inflation Reduction Act as it works on the budget.
Democratic state attorneys general filed suit against the pause Monday in the U.S. District Court for Massachusetts, James Downing reported. The states are seeking an injunction against President Trump’s executive order so federal agencies can resume working on projects as the litigation is considered.
DNV is also still optimistic about the clean energy transition, John Cropley found as he went through its annual Energy Industry Insights. But there is widespread uncertainty about its direction in the near term given Trump’s tariffs, though that uncertainty is spread across the entire global economy.
