Call me crazy, but I think my morning emails are influencing the Philadelphia Phillies’ season.

My first email about the Phillies this year was on opening weekend when I (somewhat) bragged about going to the game against the rival Atlanta Braves. I didn’t necessarily say we (yeah, I’m part of the team) were going to be great this year, but it was probably inferred through my excitement. But great we were, as we got off to the best start in franchise history. However, it was when I got (somewhat) cocky with my All-Star break email that things began to change for the worse and we went on a month long slump. Despite still having one of the best records, the feeling at the time was one of despair. 

It wasn’t until late August that I recognized the error of my ways and (somewhat) apologized to the baseball gods for what I had done. Since then, the Phillies have woken back up and secured a first-round bye in the playoffs. 

As the Phillies start the postseason on Oct. 5 (I’ll be there), I humbly state that I believe we deserve this World Series. Us fans have dealt with enough junk since 2008, and this group of players has more than earned a ring over the last three years. All praise to the baseball gods. Amen.
